Nepenthes tobaica เป็นหม้อข้าวหม้อแกงลิงถิ่นเดียวของเกาะสุมาตรา ในประเทศอินโดนีเซีย โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งรอบทะเลสาบตูบา (Toba) จึงถูกตั้งชื่อตามทะเลสาบNepenthes tobaica เป็นญาติใกล้ชิดกับ N. angasanensis, N. gracilis, N. mikei, และ N. reinwardtiana.[1]
