หมายเหตุ: ในการศึกษาล่าสุด พบว่ามีความเป็นไปได้ว่า ปลาฉนากจะงอยปากกว้าง, ปลาฉนากธรรมดา และปลาฉนากฟันใหญ่ อาจจะเป็นชนิดเดียวกัน ถึงแม้ว่าจะมีสัณฐานต่างกันก็ตาม[4]
